Flight and Engineering Models of FUNcube-1 with FUNcube-2 boards

A collection of videos have been released showing work on the FUNcube-1 spacecraft that is aiming to launch on a DNEPR from Yasny with 17 other satellites carrying amateur radio payloads in the first half of 2013.

The videos include a time-lapse of FUNcube-1 flight integration in the ISIS clean-room.

AMSAT-UK FUNcube-1 CubeSat

FUNcube-1 is a complete educational single CubeSat project with the goal of enthusing and educating young people about radio, space, physics and electronics.

The target audience consists of primary and secondary school pupils and it will feature a 145 MHz telemetry beacon that will provide a strong signal for the pupils to receive.

FUNcube-1 also carries a 435 to 145 MHz Linear Transponder for SSB/CW communications.

It is being designed and built by AMSAT-UK and AMSAT-NL in collaboration with ISIS – Innovative Solutions in Space BV.

The next video shows the FUNcube antenna deployment test in the ISIS clean-room. The antennas were deployed to test the deployment logic and waiting timers. Deployment was 100% successful.

This video shows Wouter PA3WEG unpacking the FUNcube satellite RF board Engineering Model (EM) after shipment to one of the UK based working meetings. Engineering Model boards are identical to Flight Model (FM) boards, but are used for engineering and testing.

This is an illumination test of the FUNcube-1 Material Science Experiment (MSE), and solar panel sensors. The telemetry can be heard. A bit of discussion is going on in the background about I2C bus issues, that have been solved in the mean time.

Recorded on April 10, 2010 during the first FUNcube Flatsat working meeting this video shows telemetry decoding of the FUNcube-1 satellite downlink using the full modulator chain. CCT board PWM, through LPF towards RF board modulator, out to the aerial and received using FT817 and the first testing version of the FUNcube demodulator software.
