The AMSAT-UK International Space Colloquium will be held on the September 14-16, 2012 at the Holiday Inn, Guildford, GU2 7XZ, United Kingdom. For travel information see here. For Presentation Schedule see here. Access to the Colloquium is via the hotel side entrance by the GB4FUN communications module.
The Colloquium attracts an international audience from across Europe as well as North America and the Middle East. Attendees range from the builders of the CubeSats and Nanosats, those who communicate through them and beginners who wish to find out more about this fascinating branch of the hobby.
It provides a rare opportunity to chat with satellite designers and builders, discussions frequently continue until the early hours of the morning.
A Gala dinner is held on the Saturday evening along with the fund raising auction.
Rooms and Saturday’s Gala Dinner must be booked in advance here .
The full presentation schedule is being finalised and will be published shortly but, in the meantime we can confirm that it will be a truly international event and will include:
Exclusive access to inspect the new SSTL clean room and integration facilities at the recently opened Kepler Building. If you have visited their previous facilities at the university campus, during previous Colloquia, you will be amazed by what is happening now.
Presentations by experts from AMSAT-SA, AMSAT-NA, AMSAT-CT and AMSAT-DL on their current spacecraft projects.
CubeSat presentations on UKube-1, Strand-1 and, of course the FUNcube-1 project.
We will be including an exclusive roundup of a number of new live and potential spacecraft projects that are under investigation and/or development.
Additionally a number of presentations are planned covering new communications techniques and similar futuristic topics.
Plus all the usual networking opportunities, the gala dinner and auction/raffle, plus the opportunity to operate the sophisticated groundstation in the GB4FUN mobile demonstration module.
The weekend event is open to all. It attracts an international audience that ranges from those involved in building and operating Amateur Radio satellites to beginners who wish to find out more about this fascinating branch of the hobby.
Access to the Colloquium is via the hotel side entrance by the GB4FUN communications module.
AMSAT-UK invites speakers, to cover topics about micro-satellites, CubeSats, Nanosats, space and associated activities, for this event.
They are also invited to submit papers for the “Proceedings” document which will be published at the same time but printed papers are not mandatory. We normally prefer authors to present talks themselves rather than having someone else give them in the authors’ absence. We also welcome “unpresented” papers for the Proceedings document.
Submissions should be sent ONLY to David Johnson G4DPZ, via the following routes: e-mail: david dot johnson at blackpepper dot co dot uk
